Media
When I work on projects, I often have a podcast, an audiobook, a movie, or a TV show playing in the background. Due to the way my brain works, I absorb a solid chunk of that, and I enjoy sharing my experience. And since I don't really see the benefit of providing corporations with free content in the form of reviews and ratings, I decided I'd do it here.
Bookshop.org
I am happy to announce that I am currently an affiliate with Bookshop.org. Sure, I am with Amazon, but that is in spite of the company, not because of it. Bookshop.org is like the anti-amazon, where you can pick a local independent bookstore to support, or everything goes into a general pool. Actually, let me just pull some quotes from their about page.
Our mission is simple: To help local, independent bookstores thrive in the age of ecommerce.
Certified as a B Corp, Bookshop.org puts this mission and the public good above financial interests, giving over 80% of our profit margin to independent bookstores. In 2022, B-Labs announced we were "best for the world": in the top 5% of all B-Corps.
It is written in our governance documents that we will never sell the company to Amazon or any major U.S. retailer.
As a Climate Neutral company, we are committed to operating sustainably.
So if you want to support this company, and to a lesser extent, me, check out the affiliate links for books (they are labelled), or just shop around using my store link.
