I put off reading these for a long time, just because the name didn’t appeal to me. It wasn’t until I was looking through my library for a good series that I saw it, and understood the name through the lens of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which did a great job of taking something that seemed silly on it’s surface, and making it amazing.

I combined the first 3 books in a single entry here because these were all pretty consistent. Some fun sci-fi stuff, building the framework to ask some interesting philisophical questions, and hearing the internal dialoge of software engineers as they normally navigate life. Enjoyable read, and if you could actually find a group of people to do a book club, these would be great books. I got the sense that Dennis Taylor was finding his footing, or rather doing a lot of world-building here. The 4th installment was a different enough beast that I separated it out.
