Stephen King holds a relatively unique place in my heart when it comes to books. He is an absolutely wonderful author. His writing and character development is incredible, detailed, and feels real. Also, I dislike most of his books. I like the Dark Tower series, and I have read and listened to On Writing multiple times. The rest, meh. Just not my thing.

I actually started listening to this, for the second time, just because I was listening to a series of lectures on fiction writing, and he mentioned this book. The same thing got me that always does. My brain mixes up The Stand with The Firm, so I always assume it’s a legal thriller of some kind. So I decided to give it a listen to remind myself what it was about. I very much enjoyed the first part of the book, as the Super Flu starts spreading across the globe. The second part, with all the supernatural stuff, was more in line with Stephen King writes. Well done, but not my thing. Overall an enjoyable read, especially when focusing on the mechanics of writing.
