Marc Ferrez spent four decades turning his camera on Guanabara Bay — its harbor traffic, its beaches, and the granite peaks that ring it — from vantage points around Rio de Janeiro including Pão de Açúcar and Corcovado. He was Brazil’s leading 19th-century photographer and served as official photographer to the Imperial Navy.
